Pain & Pleasure…

Flower is a Salvation Jane

Hi! Will say a few words about yesterday…. Had a day of work on Clint’s farm in Riverton (not where the raw retreat will be). We did lots of slashing by hand & as a result today the left side of my back is quite tight (i was using my right hand the whole day). The weather was pretty crappy & cold but the slashing definitely kept us warm & built up a hearty hunger!

The place is very overgrown at the moment but just so beautyfull! I really love the vibe there. Munched on oranges all day & a fruity salad pasta at night.

Quondong (not sure how its spelt!)How stunning is this little red fruit?!..it’s an Australian native fruit called ‘Quondong’ sounds like condomn, not sure how its spelt though. Apparently it was a staple for the Aboriginals, I had one or two – it was gross & bitter…Im thinking the Aboriginals had a sweeter variety? Anyway it was stunning to look at so I had to take a picture.

I went for a run at 11am & really wanted to turn around a few times… I was getting pelted with rain & freezing mountain winds but I kept focusing on how amazing I would feel when I finished & how disappointed I would feel if i turned around, these thoughts were enough to keep me powering on.
The power of attaching pain & pleasure to things is huge! Take a disempowering behaviour that u want to change…list down all the pain u will experience if you don’t change now, look into the future & really feel the pain of not changing, see the results of your inaction..
why is pain such a huge motivator? – the need to avoid pain is biological, its built into our nervous system…its a survival mechanism that’s absolutely necessary.

Most people allow these 2 forces to control their lives….not aware that we can consciously attach pain & pleasure to change behaviours we regularly partake in… in this way pain can be our friend!- but only if we harness it correctly – attaching pain can assist us in making more empowering choices…

if u want change then find an experience that will push u over the edge into changing…one example i have heard is that if you are an individual who wants to become a vegetarian or vegan then visit a slaughterhouse & link up where your meat actually comes from & the hell the animals suffer…this could be enough to form a new belief…

Not only have I used these techniques in my own life but also in my mentoring & have had much success!

this may seem to go against the ‘focus creates reality’ idea but if we use this tool consciously then it can change our lives forever.

in my experience pain is a bigger motivator than pleasure…think about it :)

Anyways Im offskee …
